From the PEI Guardian Newspaper-Friday, Oct. 28th, 1921
In the
Western portion of the Guardian, a promotion for a Hallowe’en Masquerade Dance
at the Olympia Cabaret would take place Monday Oct. 31st, tickets
.50 cents. In the same paper, a promotion for a Hallowe’en supper was to take
place in the London Hall on Monday Oct. 31st. In the paper, there
was a promotion for October 31st Hallowe’en tea and bazaar in the
Victoria Hall. Doors were to open at 3:30, tea served until 8:30pm.
The
Guardian of October 29th, 1949, promoted a few community events
related to Halloween. An advertisement in the paper promoted a masquerade dance
for Monday October 31st at the Spring Valley Hall. Dancing was to
take place from 9 P.M. to 12 A.M with prizes for best costume.
Researching
community notes from the Tignish Home and School Association, the October
monthly meeting held a discussion what should be done to help school children and
teenagers celebrate Hallowe’en. It was decided to sponsor a party on Monday
evening (October 31st). Reverend Father Macdonald offered the use of
the parish hall for the entertainment as well as his support for the event. The
release stated the members would furnish apples and prizes for the event.
